JFK: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 shocked the nation and forever changed the United States. I crafted this illustration on the 30-year anniversary of the assassination for The Springfield News-Leader. Although my illustration style has changed over the years, my feelings of sorrow and sense of loss I experienced as I researched, drew and painted the images have not changed. Included in the illustrated collage are JFK, Walter Cronkite making the announcement of JFK’s death, the swearing in of President Johnson, the assassin Lee Harvey Oswald being shot on live TV, the president’s limo with distraught Jackie and the secret service agent and John John saluting his fallen father.
