I ignite clarity in all. A window to the Art of Chuck Todd

Einstein illustration

I created this last year for Tia Stoller Design for an issue of a Kaiser employee publication. This was a quick turnaround and a lot of fun. The formula Albert Einstein is writing is a human resources formula for the Kaiser article…so not one of Einstein’s serious and famous equations. The reference photo was of a younger Einstein. In the rough sketches and final drawing I pushed him into the older more iconic character.  I also had fun with the jacket opening up, tie moving and the hand showing a piece of chalk in his grip. Lots of line work in pencil that I worked back into with watercolor and acrylic. I always wanted to illustrate Einstein. I really enjoyed doing my own take on him. Along with some other illustrations I gave this a go as an entry in the Communication Arts annual illustration competition.

  3. It’s got a great loose look– very appealing. And having old Al write out an HR equation is very funny– well done, sir!
